Did you know that in the United States the second leading cause of death for youth between the ages of 10-24 is suicide?
As an organization, RMH wanted to develop a program that would effectively combat this pandemic, as it is so serious. According to research- it has been found that as students get older, they are more likely to confide in someone who is their age with an obstacle they are facing, rather than an adult. This is one of the reasons we created Peers4Peers. We wanted students to have the tools they need to help one another as well as themselves.
Peers4Peers is a program that consists of student leaders, who are guided by a mental health professional, and are certified in School Mental Health, through a nationally credentialed certification from LEAD, Inc.
This school based program was developed in an effort to encourage students to seek out their peers, at the very least, when they are in need of support.
